SKE whirlpool tun features a tangential inlet, 2% sloped bottom and reasonable tank design for efficient trub separation and short holding time.
Advantages of SKE Whirlpool Tank
- Reasonable height/diameter ratio.
- Ideal hops and heat trub removal.
- Three wort discharge port
- Draw-off starts from the top (where the wort is clearest); as the wort level drops, subsequent draw-off outlets are opened. This design protects the trub bed from collapsing during whirlpool emptying,allowing more clarified wort to be collected.
Whirlpool Hopping
SKE whirlpool tank can be fitted with a shell-and-tube heat exchanger to precisely cool wort to 70℃-85℃.
Wort cooling not only enables hop addition in the whirlpool, but also boosts trub (hot break) sedimentation for clearer wort and inhibits secondary DMS (dimethyl sulfide) formation.
Brewing water is used for cooling, and the heated water post heat exchange can be recycled to the hot water tank for energy recovery.
