Vacuum Degassing System
The two-stage vacuum de-aeration system achieves deep dissolved-oxygen reduction for beverage process water. Raw water undergoes primary vacuum treatment followed by CO2-stripping and secondary vacuum extraction to deliver effluent residual oxygen of 30-50 ppb.
This skid-mounted integrated unit supports CIP cleaning. The resulting de-aerated water feeds beverage blending and carbonation units to suppress oxidation and retain product sensory flavour. It is applicable to carbonated soft-drink, beer and low-alcohol beverage production lines.
What’s the Vacuum De-aeration?
Two-stage vacuum de-oxygenation is primarily used in carbonated beverages, beer, and water blending. The goal is to reduce dissolved oxygen in water to 30-50 ppb, thereby minimizing oxidation, preserving the flavor of beverages, and extending shelf life. It is commonly employed in the water supply unit at the front end of the mixing machine and carbonation system.
In the primary deoxygenation tank, the material undergoes atomization and vacuuming. As the solubility of oxygen in the material decreases with the reduction in tank pressure, most of the O2 molecules in the material are separated and removed. Subsequently, a small amount of food-grade CO2 is introduced into the water after primary deoxygenation, and the material is then transferred to the secondary deoxygenation tank. The excellent atomization effect endows the water with a very large specific surface area. Within a short period of time, the partial pressure of gas in the water equilibrates with that in the secondary tank, resulting in a reduced oxygen content in the water (depending on the purity of CO2 and the atomization effect).
Application Scope of Vacuum De-aeration System
- Carbonated beverage production line: Prepare de-oxygenated water at the front end of the mixer to enhance CO2 dissolution efficiency.
- Beer, low-alcohol/non-alcoholic beer production line: De-oxygenated water is used for blending and diafiltration processes to inhibit beer oxidation and aging.
- Non-carbonated beverages such as fruit juice and tea: Use a two-stage vacuum machine to produce low-oxygen process water free of CO2.
